MRS INGABIRE ASSUMPTA TAKES OVER AS MINALOC PERMANENT SECRETARY

Mrs Ingabire Assumpta is the new Permanent at the Ministry of Local Government. She officially took over today from Mrs Uwamariya Odette, who has been appointed Director of Cabinet in the Prime Minister’s Office.

The handover ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Local Government, Hon Kaboneka Francis. Present was the Minister of State in charge of Social Affairs and Social Protection, Dr Alivera Mukabaramba, Heads of Agencies and Institutions affiliated to the Ministry and the entire senior staff at the Ministry of Local Government.

The President of The Republic, His Excellency Paul Kagame, made the changes on August 30th, 2017 with immediate effect.

Ingabire Assumpta has been the Director General in charge of Local Government Inspection since April 27th, 2016 and Uwamariya Odette was the Permanent Secretary since October 3rd, 2016. Prior, she served as Governor of the Eastern Province since October 2011.

In her remarks, Uwamariya Odette thanked His Excellency The President for the trust bestowed upon her. She also commended MINALOC Family for team work and togetherness that led to good success. She pledged to remain a family member and to build on good lessons learnt from Local Government.

Ingabire Assumpta expressed her gratitude to His Excellency The President and she committed to work hard towards the dignity of Rwandans, good governance and socioeconomic transformation.

Minister Kaboneka Francis thanked His Excellency The President of the Republic for his trust upon the appointed officials. He congratulated and commended both the outgoing and incoming Permanent Secretaries for hard work, selflessness and team work spirit. He wished them well in their new responsibilities and pledged full support from the entire local government family.

Minister Kaboneka said; “Mrs Uwamariya Odette was known for hard work, team work and commitment. The new PS should always remember that; she serves as ‘bridge’ in the entire local government family. But she won’t be alone, we work together as a team, as a family; we support and we complement each other, and together we achieve our objective: citizens’ socioeconomic transformation”.
